Course Title
F1 Pit-Stop for Manufacturing

When you ask mechanic to change your all four car tires, how long do you need to wait? 30 minutes? At F1 pit-stop, their mechanics can change all four F1 tires in less than 3 second.
By implementing SMED (Single Minute Exchange Die), you can transform your old approach on machine setup which consume a lot of time into F1 pit-stop performance.
SMED a.k.a Quick Changeover eliminates or reduces non-value added activities in the setup and teardown processes of manufacturing, allowing companies to quickly and efficiently change from one product to another. Quick Changeover is a critical component of Lean Manufacturing, allowing companies to reduce batch sizes and shorten lead time, making it easier to meet customer demands for high-quality, low-cost products, delivered quickly and without the expense of excess inventory.
BECT Unique training will equip participants with the practical knowledge to reduce set-up time reduction and thereby, enhance the organization’s flexibility and responsiveness to meet customers’ demands. It takes participants through in details the principles and techniques of Set-Up Reduction and how to implement a world class changeover activity. As a result, small batch scheduling and production, as well as mix production can be practiced.

OBJECTIVES
• Understand the history and development of Set-Up Reduction
• Grasp the importance of flexibility and responsiveness to the economy of today & of the future
• Comprehend the purpose and impact of set-up reduction on production and the business
• Understand how set-up reduction enables mix production and flexibility
• Grasp in details the 7 Steps required to convert to a Set-Up Reduction
• Highlight the tools and techniques in Set-Up Reduction.

BENEFITS
Participants would be able to apply Quick Changeover to :
• Reduce defect rates - Quick Changeover reduces adjustments as part of setup and promotes quality on the first piece.
• Reduce inventory costs - Elimination of, or reduction in numbers of batches, and their sizes, allows for recovery of operating cash and manufacturing space.
• Increase production flexibility - Increase output and improve timeliness of response to customer orders.
• Improve on-time delivery - Quick Changeover supports the ability to meet customer demands.
